NEW RANT!!!

I'm so excited I found something new to rant about! I got bored one day and decided to look up words in the dictionary. I was flipping to random pages and seeing what new words I could learn. As I was flipping around in the dictionary I found the word suicide. The definition of suicide is: "act of killing oneself purposely. Now this got me thinking. The only state the suicide is legal is Oregon, but since you are dead what are they going to do to you? It is not like they can put you in jail or give you the death penalty. So, I was walking around campus to go to my next class and couldn't help noticing how many people smoke. Everywhere you pass there is someone smoking. This made me think on the definition I found earlier, suicide. Smoking gives you cancer, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, heart disease, or many other serious diseases that help kill you. Does this sound a little like suicide to you? Sure your not slitting your wrists, but you sucking on a death stick. Have you ever noticed on the health insurance commercials that it tells you that if you are 40 and not a smoker you can get premium life insurance for $5 a month! Did anyone else catch that? If you are not a smoker!. The insurance companies must know something about smoking. It must lower your life expectancy and also increase your rise of major diseases. On the surgeon generals warning for cigarettes it says: Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy. In my opinion it should say: Smoking WILL kill you. Also, since it is a form of suicide it should be banned everywhere except Oregon. Then all the smokers would go to Oregon and I could walk to class not having to hold my breath from cigarette smoke.

burn out, followed by joy

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. I have lost my spark for music. I hope i get it back before my jury. If you have any ideas leave me a comment.

On a happy note, I got to talk with one of my really good friends on aim tonight. I havn't seen here in a long time, but hopefully we will get to do the tri-fecta (chipotle, starbucks, then krispy kreme) during x-mas break. I also got to talk with another friend from fbcr. I really regret leaving there. I wish I would have talked to people about my problems instead of just running away from them. What is in the past is just that, in the past and there is nothing I can do about it now.

Another great thing is that my mom get her puppy today! She is so excited about her. I haven't seen my mom as happy as she was today in a long time. Jake, my greyhound, is a great dog, but my mom really wants a dog that would play and one that she could show. This puppy is so awesome! When I went home I fell in love with her after spending a few minutes with her. Puppies are the greatest little things. Everyone should have the opportunity to have a puppy. I think the new addition to the family will work out great.

My first orchestra concert

Wow is all i can say. We played Mahlers 4th symhony. Really pretty piece, but a real snoozer for percussion. I played bass drum for this piece and played a grand total of 22 measures. I was curious as to how long this piece is and to my amazement, it is 53:30 long. That is a long ass time to just sit there. I am very greatful to have gotten the opportunity to play on the Mahler, but now I want to write an orchestra piece that is an hour long percussion feature with string accompaniment. The thing drove me nuts the most during rehearsal was when a string player would complain about counting rests. When you play in 95% of a piece you should not complain.

I found orchestra rehearsal is a great time to complete any homework that you need to do. My personal favorite subject to work on is Music Theory during orchestra. Although Dr. Wick strongly advised me not to work on homework during orchestra, I do it anyway. When I am doing something I will stay put and not make an idiot of myself or worse draw unwanted attention to myself. I think I will take my chances of doing homework during orchestra and if Dr. Phillips catches me and gets mad I will tell him that Dr. Wick told me it would be good to do theory during orchestra.

How I wish I was an Aggie

What I would give for Texas A&M to have a good music school. My parents are Aggies and I was raised to keep the tradition going. When SMU played A&M I had a blast! Everyone else was complaining about how hot is was and also how bad we were getting beat. My favorite part of Aggie football games is the yells. If it is your first experience at Kyle field then you are in for a big treat.

When we got to Kyle Field I felt at home. Everyone there is extremly nice and real. Not as many fake people as there are at SMU. There is not an ongoing war to see who can wear the most designer clothing to a football game. Instead, everyone shows up in their maroon A&M t-shirt. They don't have to spend $100 on a hoodie because it has an aligator on it. This is the thing that I can't stand about SMU! For the most part people here are jackasses. How can you judge someone on the cloths that they wear? After being submerged in this materialistic cult, the only thing that keeps me from going insane is the few trips that I get out of the bubble. Everyday I imgaine if I went to A&M. I could say "Howdy!" to people and they wouldn't look at me like I'm a hick. But this isn't a perfect world, so for the next for years I will be exiled in University Park.

Chipotle vs Freebirds!

We had just finished wind ensemble rehearsal and I was extremly hungry. I was trying to find a group of people to go eat with and my choices were Ump lee or Freebirds. I had been before and was not satisfied with it at all. Given the two places where I could eat I sucked it up and decided to give Freebirds another try.

Jimmy, Rebecka, Rebecka's sister, Katie, and my self pile into the SUV. We get there and I'm thinking maybe it will be good this time. So I go up to order and get a chicken monster. I start to eat it and remember why I didn't like it the first time I went. It tastes like nothing! Plus it is very dry. The rice tastes three days old and the chicken had been microwaved so many times that it had no flavor. Here I am extremly hungry, but at the same time not impressed at all with this "monster" that is infront of me. I knew it was not good when Ump Lee food sounded good. Since I had already wasted $8.25 on the thing I decided to eat it.

Chipotle on the other hand is Gods gift to buritto connoisseurs. Each buritto is a work of art. No other buritto comes close to a Chipotle buritto. The chicken and rice both have a wonderful flavor. Unlike when you bite into a Freebird, a chipotle buritto makes you mouth do a little dance. Also, the music in Chipotle is a lot better. At Chipotle they play latin jazz to complete the Chipotle experience. Freebirds on the other hand plays no music. It is nice to have some sort of music going on in the background because if you can't think of anything to talk about you can always get up and dance or talk about how cool the piece that is being played is.

In conclusion, Chipotle rocks and Freebirds sucks.
